Te Arai Links
Opening October 2022 this links master piece named the South Course, designed by Core & Crenshaw is only a short drive south of sister course Tara Iti and completes two of three coastal courses north of Auckland located between Pakiri and Mangawhai.
Steven, our golfing fan and member of Te Arai Links recently enjoyed a preview round.
The opportunity to play a preview 12 holes was without doubt a day worth waiting for. First impressions are of a very well organised, beautifully laid out links course with an exceptional driving range (designed by playing homage to the design of famous greens from around the golfing world), a central club and multiple restaurant facilities including Rick’s Pizza Place, overlooking a whimsical practice green spanning well over the length of a typical par three. The immediate connection to the Pacific Ocean is special, with a sense of privacy on each hole and native plantings abound that complement the coastline surroundings.
With at least 4 tee blocks and hole positions that can vary the length of each hole considerably, it’s surprisingly undulating and provides for a significant golfing challenge. Yet it provides for plenty of risk and reward shots to temp the keen golfers. The hotel and villa facilities are currently under construction with limited availability from opening. This will improve as 2023 draws nearer. A future ocean facing cafe and bar facility will be built in the most exceptional of locations.
The third ‘North’ Course in the trilogy is almost complete and looks to be another unique experience ready to enjoy from October 2023.
Personally, I can’t wait to play and expect it to be very popular with visitors, given the superb location and unique accommodation options. With the Northern Motorway extension, due to finish in 2023, this will add to the efficiency of a visit from Auckland.
