The Spicers Scenic Rim Trail is an adventure to behold and located just a stone's throw away from Brisbane airport. Nestled within the untouched Australian wilderness, this enthralling expedition guarantees an unforgettable experience. Recently, the Beyond The Blue team ventured on a 3-day, 3-night walking tour which encompassed 2.5 days of spectacular hiking with the final afternoon relaxing in beautiful surroundings Spicers is famous for. 

Our first day covered 8 kilometers (5 miles), while day two and three extended to 16 kilometers (10 miles) each. Hayden and Hayley, our exceptional guides, and Sophie, our gracious host, effortlessly ensured our comfort and well-being. Their genuine care and professionalism created an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. With every step we took through the magnificent landscapes, we found ourselves consistently awestruck by the sheer beauty that enveloped us. Throughout our day, our insightful guides curated moments for us to experience Dadirri - a profound concept of deep listening and quiet contemplation. As we walked through the diverse Australian bush and rainforest, we embraced these moments of personal reflection, immersing ourselves in the tranquillity that surrounded us.

      At the end of each day a crackling fire awaited us, accompanied by a warm cloth to rejuvenate ourselves. We celebrated our accomplishments with a glass of prosecco, basking in the sense of achievement before entering the cosy lodge. The lodge, a luxury sanctuary served as a gathering place each evening. With an inviting fire in the hearth, we indulged in charcuterie boards while the guides joined us in conversation and relaxation. As we moved onto dinner, we were treated to a delicious meal. Gathered around the table with our guides and fellow travellers, discussing the day's adventures, amusing anecdotes, triumphs and challenges we had encountered and eagerly anticipating the excitement of tomorrow.

On the final evening as the sun descended, painting the sky with hues of gold, we indulged in a soothing foot bath then immersed ourselves in the hot tub, relishing the serenity while savouring a glass of wine. Gazing at the Australian skies, we toasted marshmallows over the fire, cherishing the last moments of this remarkable journey. With the sounds of wildlife serenading us to sleep, we drifted off, hearts full of gratitude and memories to last a lifetime.One of the unique aspects of this trail is the convenience of traveling light. Bid farewell to the burden of carrying heavy bags throughout your expedition. Your luggage will be transferred to the campsite each day, leaving you to only carry a light day pack which means you’re free to focus on the adventure that lies ahead. When preparing for the Spicers Scenic Rim Trail, remember that the weather can be unpredictable. One day you may have some rain, the next beautiful sunny skies. Be sure to pack appropriate gear such as thick socks, comfortable hiking shoes, hat, and a rain jacket.
